Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzer

The Miniature Schnauzer originated in Germany in the 19th century by crossing the Standard Schnauzer with smaller terrier breeds to hunt rats and other vermin on family farms. It features a compact, sturdy build, a dense wiry coat in black, salt-and-pepper, or rust, and distinctive beard and eyebrows. Originally valued for its endurance, courage, and keen eyes in tracking prey, today’s Miniature Schnauzer is an intelligent, alert, and friendly companion requiring consistent yet gentle training, regular exercise, mental stimulation, and routine grooming to maintain its signature coat.
