Glen of Imaal Terrier

Glen of Imaal Terrier

The Glen of Imaal Terrier originates from the Glen of Imaal valley in County Wicklow, Ireland, where as early as the 19th century it was bred for hunting badgers, otters, and other vermin in dense underbrush. It features a sturdy, low-slung build with shorter legs and a harsh double coat typically found in blue brindle or wheaten brindle. Valued originally for its courage, stamina, and ability to work in tough terrain, today’s Glen of Imaal Terrier is a calm, loyal, and intelligent companion requiring consistent yet gentle training, adequate exercise, and regular socialization.
