Cairn Terrier

Cairn Terrier

The Cairn Terrier originates from the Isle of Skye and its surroundings in Scotland, where since the 16th century it was used to hunt vermin—particularly otters, foxes, and rats—among the rocky cairns (stone piles). It features a harsh, weather-resistant coat in colors ranging from gray to red, providing protection against harsh elements. Known for its courage, intelligence, and independent spirit, today’s Cairn Terrier is a small, active, and affectionate dog requiring consistent training, regular exercise, and mental stimulation.
