Bolognese

Bolognese

The Bolognese originates from Italy, particularly the city of Bologna, where it was bred for centuries as a companion dog favored by nobility and aristocracy, valued for its affectionate nature and devotion rather than any working role. Closely related to other small bichon-type breeds, it was often given as a prestigious gift among royal courts across Europe. Today, the Bolognese is a calm, gentle, and people-oriented companion that thrives on close contact with its family, adapts very well to apartment and urban living, and is known for its loyalty and sensitivity, while its distinctive white coat requires regular grooming to keep it healthy and tidy.
