Airedale Terrier

Airedale Terrier

The Airedale Terrier originates from the valleys of the River Aire in Yorkshire, England, where it was developed in the 19th century by crossing Otterhounds, Bull Terriers, and Water Spaniels for versatile hunting tasks—tracking, flushing, and retrieving vermin in marshes and brush. It features a sturdy yet agile build, a harsh double coat in tan and black, and distinctive tan markings. Originally prized for its courage, endurance, and intelligence both in water and on land, today’s Airedale is an energetic, friendly, and trainable companion requiring regular physical and mental exercise and consistent, gentle training.
